I only planned two days in San Jose, so one I spent in the city and the other in the surrounding countryside. In the city I joined a walking tour to the central market, the historical area and the parliamentary buildings. After, our guide recommended a restaurant that was known as the best in San Jose for local dishes, it did not disappoint.
I would usually rent a car and explore the country side, but with only 2 days there I decided on a tour. It took us to the Irazu Volcano and Orosi Valley, the oldest church in a town of Cartago and to a botanical gardens. The country side was more lush and beautiful than I expected (and I had high expectations as usual). I especially loved seeing the view of the green against the clouds.. in areas it looked so surreal. I think Costa Rica will be one of my favorite countries.
